John F. Carbone
Chief Carbone is a decorated 26 year law enforcement veteran who served in a municipal department on the Connecticut Shoreline before coming to Barre in 2016. He has held the ranks of Corporal, Sergeant, Major and Deputy Chief as well as the positions of School Resource Officer and Patrol Commander. Among his accomplishments, Chief Carbone developed a School Resource Officer program in the aftermath of the Columbine tragedy that was regarded as a model for other law enforcement agencies. Throughout his career he focused on drunk driving enforcement, including teaching detection techniques for the Connecticut Department of Transportation and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. His efforts in the field and classroom have been recognized by Mother’s Against Drunk Driving. Chief Carbone is a graduate of the Florida State University College of Criminology and Criminal Justice and the Southern Police Institute Command Officers Development Course, University of Louisville. He is currently in the Criminal Justice masters program at the University of New Haven.
